The key to surviving sudden cardiac arrest is timely initiation of CPR, which can include a shock from an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). The editor of The Zapper believes a more timely application may have increased the chance of survival for newsman,Tim Russert. The American Heart Association offers training and says tens of thousands of lives could be saved if the public was trained in AEDs.
