Tylenol Arthritis Caplets are recalled because of some bacterial contamination. Contact Johnson & Johnson for a full refund and the FDA warns consumers not to use the product.

Darvon and Darvocet, pain relievers that contain propoxyphene, will receive a stronger warning about the possibility of overdose. They just escaped being taken off the market by the FDA, which would have had a severe impact on about 500,000 daily users.

An FDA advisory panel urged a ban of popular prescription painkillers Vicodin and Percocet, both which contain acetaminophen, Tuesday. The panel also recommended lowering the maximum dose of over-the-counter painkillers containing acetaminophen, such as Tylenol and Excedrin.

An expert panel convened to advise the FDA on acetaminophen, voted today that  Johnson & Johnson's Tylenol be given in smaller doses and the Extra Strength Tylenol should be sold by prescription only to reduce the dangers of serious liver injury.

In a final ruling, the FDA has determined over-the-counter pain relievers such as Advil and Tylenol need to carry stronger warnings about the potential safety risks associated with use including liver damage and internal bleeding.
