BPA exposed factory workers in China experienced a nearly four-fold increased risk of reduced sexual desire, a greater than four-fold increased risk of erection difficulty, and more than seven-fold increased risk of ejaculation difficulty, in this first look at how the plasticizer may be impacting human health.

The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) will devote $30 million over two years to study the safety of bisphenol A, an estrogen-like chemical used in many plastics including baby bottles.

Washington state missed the deadline to submit a list of the top 50 chemicals that makers of children's products are required to report under a law passed in 2008. Expected to make the list are Bisphenol-A and mercury.

In this Harvard study, 77 students drank cold water from stainless steel bottles made without BPA.  The following week they drank water from plastic bottles made from BPA, a plasticizer, and a 69 percent increase in the chemical was found in their urine. This study confirms for the first time the endocrine disruptor leaches into humans.

The FDA's case that bisphenol-A, a chemical found in food containers and other household products is safe, has been rejected as incomplete and unreliable by an international consortium of industry, academic and government scientists.

Six baby bottle manufacturers will voluntarily agree to take BPA out of their bottles. The plastic component, know to disrupt the endocrine system in children, has been under increasing pressure from lawsuits, consumers and three state Attorneys General.

Bisphenol A, a plastic component that mimics the hormone, estrogen, and may cause cancer, is found in many non-food sources, this study finds.  And instead of quickly passing throughthe body, as previously thought, may linger in fat cells.

It is a mystery that will take 21 years to solve - how do solents, plastics, chemicals in our environment adversely affect children's health and disease. The NIH and CDC will examine more than 100,000 participants at 105 diverse sites around the country in this ambitious National Children's Health Study.

The Environmental Working Group says it’s a waste of taxpayer dollars and places millions of babies yet to be born at risk, for the FDA to spend more years of research to conclude what thousands of scientists already know about the toxic chemical bisphenol A, or BPA.

A new study recently found that maternal exposure to bisphenol-A (BPA) could decrease or eliminate the sex difference in certain behavioral responses. The study adds to the mounting evidence that suggests BPA exposure affects behaviors of the brain among other health conditions.

Not waiting for the FDA to take any action on the plastic component BPA, three state Attorneys General have sent urgent letters to 11 manufacturers telling them to get the BPA out now. Bisphenol A is an endocrine disruptor that may affect children and adults.

The largest scale study so far on the plasticizer bisphenol A (BPA) in humans, has confirmed that the common product has a link to human health problems such as heart disease and diabetes. In this new study, British researchers found those with the highest levels of BPA, were twice as likely to have the diseases compared to the lowest level group.  Find out how to avoid it.
