In 2007, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg declared October 13 Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day. An estimated 155,000 women in the United States are currently living with metastatic breast cancer.

A new study finds strong evidence that women who are longer and heavier at birth are at increased risk of developing breast cancer as an adult. Researchers found birth weight, length and head circumference were each linked to an increased risk of cancer. Although, length was the strongest independent predictor of risk.
