Seven crib manufacturers are announcing recalls to repair cribs that can trap and suffocate infants. This is the latest industry-wide initiative to fix inherent problems with the drop-side cribs, which the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced will be phased-out. Watch for the cribs on the resale market and in garage sales.

IKEA along with the government is recalling more than 3 million window blinds after a child nearly strangled earlier this year on a hanging cord. That brings to 4.5 million blinds recalled over the strangulation hazard.

Take those Shrek glasses back to McDonald's for a full refund after an anonymous source informed a California congresswoman that they contained the metal cadmium. The government is issuing a recall for 12 million of the glasses.

"Best Friends" charm bracelets for children sold in the jewelry store, Claire's, are being removed from store shelves after an investigation by the Associated Press found they contained high levels of the toxic metal, cadmium. Those levels have now been confirmed by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Infantino LLC has agreed to a voluntary recall of one million soft baby slings after three recent reports of infant suffocation. You are asked to destroy the product and not put it in the resale market.

1.2 million Graco Harmony High Chairs are the subject of the latest recall. 24 injuries have been reported and 464 incidents of screws coming loose allowing the chairs to tip.

The Dorel infant carrier and baby seat should not be used until consumers obtain a free repair kit to keep the handle from coming loose from the seat. So far 3 infants have been injured among the 77 reports received of handle failure.

50 million Roman shades and roll-up blinds are being voluntarily recalled by the industry because of the strangling hazard presented when a child  gets his/her head stuck between the fabric and a cord, or in the cord itself.  Many of these blinds still exist in homes today. Know what to look for.
