They come with names such as Evil Eye, Max Fury, and Slingshot Party Gel. The FDA wants to make sure that so-called energy products combined with alcohol are safe since the agency has never approved the combination caffeine/alcohol.

Among those women who drank two cups of coffee a day or more, researchers from Harvard have noted a reduction in the risk for stroke. If a woman smokes, almost all of the coffee benefit is erased.

Men feel the effects of espresso faster than women in this study from the University of Barcelona. Interestingly, women displayed the effects of caffeine, even when they drank decaffinated coffee.  The peak effects from caffeine were noted about 45 minutes after drinking the espresso.

New research suggests caffeine consumption is not linked with an overall increase in breast cancer. Previous studies suggested caffeine found in tea, soft drinks, coffee and various drugs, one of the world’s most commonly ingested drugs, could play a possible role in breast cancer.

Energy drinks are loaded with caffeine, yet because they fall under the category of "dietary supplement" they are unregulated and their caffeine content is not required to be limited or listed.  Marketers have turned the lax regulations into a $5.4 billion industry targeting young men. This study concludes labels are needed.
