It is unlikely that cholesterol drug, Vytorin, and related drug, Zetia, raise the risk of cancer. That is the good news for Merck & Co. from the FDA which adds that a link cannot be ruled out until ongoing research is concluded.

Despite the fears of Big Brother, the city of New York has managed to remove trans fats from restaurants, school lunches, baked goods, and street vendor food. Removing the artificial artery-clogging fat should cut down on coronary artery disease that kills one half million Americans a year.

This second look at the data says that not as many children should be put on statins to lower cholesterol as the American Association of Pediatrics origionally recommended.

Dieters are being told they must eat MORE! - of the right things that is.  The Mediterranean Diet plus a handful of nuts added to the health overall of those apple shaped people who have high cholesterol. Just make sure the nuts aren't in addition to snack foods, but replace them.
