After the Vioxx scandal, Congress approved a new law that forces the FDA to reveal post-approval safety information on new drugs and vaccines. Information on the first 26 drugs were posted this week.

A Colorado company caught in a congressional sting involving oversight of patient safety during clinical trials will voluntarily halt many of its review operations at the request of the FDA.

Outsourcing clinical drug trials to India is investigated in this St. Petersburg Times special report.  Thousands of trials are underway with little or no FDA oversight. Deaths have resulted, and unlike U.S. trials, participants often don't even speak English yet must sign waivers they don't understand.

More than half of clinical trials don't see the light of day, even five years after the drug hits the market, according to a new study by the University of California. That makes it difficult for consumers and doctors to stay on top of research and raises questions about what's being hidden.
