His name is Barrett Wissman and he is accused of trading in access for profit.  He is the first executive to be charged with a felony as part of an investigation of corruption at the New York state’s $122 billion pension fund, brought by New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo and the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The Boston U.S. Attorney’s office has subpoenaed financial records belonging to Dr. Scott S. Reuben, an anesthesiologist at Baystate Medical Center in Mass. after it was revealed that he faked data in at least 21 anesthesiology studies favoring the drug companies he received money from.

Radio producer, Bill Lichtenstein wants to clear the air. He says he knew nothing about the conflicting interests between the host of "The Infinite Mind" Dr. Fred Goodwin, and GlaxoSmithKline who paid Goodwin more $1 million in speaking fees. NPR has apologized to Lichtenstein for its reporting.

While parents are finding that the cost of a college education climbs, they might look at who the heavy earners are among college employees.  This survey, from the Chronicle of Higher Education, finds those in the medical schools making multi-millions of dollars, so are some athletic coaches.

Pfizer plans to become the first drugmaker to disclose on its web site the lucrative payments it makes to doctors who promote and research its drugs. The move is intended to promote transparency and regain the trust of the public after revelations that some academics on the take were not disclosing the relationship.

The producer of the science radio program, "The Infinite Mind," says he had no idea his host had a consulting arrangement with the pharmaceutical industry he occasionally reported on. That is a violation of his contract, which the producer has posted for everyone to see.

NPR is distancing itself from the independent program, "The Infinite Mind," which it provided to the Sirius Satellite Network, after its host was found to have a lucrative relationship with the pharmaceutical industry.
