Emory University psychiatrist, Dr. Charles Nemeroff has been accused of breaking federal research rules by taking in $2.8 million from a drug company and not reporting half of the income. Sen. Charles Grassley is shaking up the rampant conflict-of-interest relationships between doctors and pharmaceutical makers.  Two drug companies say they will voluntarily disclose payments to doctors online next year.

Doctors distribute drug samples to their patients routinely as a way to save them an immediate trip to the pharmacy. But a new study analyzing data from 2004, finds that often dangerous drugs are being distributed to children this way without the appropriate accompanying warning.

Senator Charles Grassley is asking the American Psychiatric Association to account for its funding, one-third of which comes from major pharmaceutical companies. In the latest outing, he's uncovered a Stanford psychiatrist who allegedly failed to report $74,000 in compensation from drug makers to the university.
