Botox and similar anti-wrinkle drugs will be required to carry stringent warning labels, prompted by reports of serious adverse events. Botulinum toxins may spread from the injection area to other areas of the body causing symptoms similar to those of botulism, including trouble of breathing and swallowing.

In an ongoing investigation that started in November 2004, The Food and Drug Administration's Office of Criminal Investigations (OCI) has made 68 arrests and 29 convictions of individuals who have deliberately used unapproved, cheaper injections as a substitute for FDA-approved Botox Cosmetic.

While thousands if not millions of people report no adverse affects from the use of botulinum neurotoxin to smooth muscles, a new report suggests you might be harming your brain. The study is published in the Journal of Neuroscience by researchers at the University of Padova in Italy.
