The CDC tracked deaths and injuries among young workers on the job and finds they have twice the injury rate of older workers. 5,719 died in jobs such as heavy machinery, fast food, and farm work.

Stroke risk is linked to the number of fast food restaurants in a given area, suggests new research presented at the International Stroke Conference, in California this week.

A new study suggests that most all fast foods contain chemical elements or ingredients derived from corn either in forms of meat, oil or others. Researchers claim cows were predominantly fed a diet of corn, which makes them as fat as possible in the shortest span of time.

California is leading the nation in becoming to the first state to take the trans fats out. Today the governor signed a bill banning all trans fats in restaurant and baked foods. A violation will result in a fine. The benefit to Californians should be a reduction in heart disease, the number one killer in the state.

SuperTarget stores began removing prepared burritos and wraps from store shelves sold under the Archer Farms label after a possible Listeria contamination was uncovered by USDA and Florida food inspectors. This is the second recall since March for this Queens, New York-based food producer.

This study from the Karolinska Institute in Sweden finds that the number of fat cells for life may be set by the young adult years.  Researchers warn against over feeding children too early in life.

Beginning Monday at your favorite New York City eatery you can ask for ketchup, fries and get the calorie count for both. A federal judge Wednesday upheld a city health regulation requiring some chain restaurants post the calorie count of selections on their menu. The state restaurant association had challenged the rule as a violation of the First Amendment by forcing restaurants to carry a message.
