Looking at collision data in three states and the District of Columbia after hand-held phone bans were put into place, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety finds no difference in the crash rate. The results are perplexing in that other studies have shown distracted driving presents a four-fold increase in the risk of collision and injuries.

The majority of college campuses are reporting cases of swine flu, which can be especially severe in young people who do not have a lifetime of immunity. Campuses are gearing up.

The FDA is warning consumers not to use any Clarcon products because they contain harmful bacteria. U.S. marshals seized the products, along with their ingredients, after the company refused to destroy them despite tests showing that they were toxic.

Adolescents and teens taking part in a national survey report only 38 percent had a preventive health visit in the past year that might include counseling on dental care, exercise, diet, wearing helmets or avoiding exposure to tobacco smoke. These years are thought to create many lifelong healthy behaviors.

A lawsuit has been filed on behalf of Armando Hernandez, a mentally challenged 21-year-old, who was the subject of staff induced beatings between residents, that's been dubbed "The Fight Club" by the media.  Texas has immunity from lawsuits, but the smoking gun is the video captured by cell phones belonging to the state.

University of Colorado researchers found, human hands not only harbor far greater numbers of bacteria species than previously believed, but women have a significantly higher amount of bacteria on their palms than that of men.

There are very few surfaces that are truly germ free. We have a list of germy surfaces your cleaning supplies will be happy to get acquainted with. Some, you may never have realized as the worst germ offenders, while others may seem obvious.

New and expanded laws regarding firearms mean that they may be closer than you think - like Sea World, Orlando and at the Atlanta Hartsfield Airport.  Disney World is refusing to allow guns in the cars of employees, despite a new guns-to-work law in Florida.

Use the same disinfectant wipe on a toilet, then a sink, then a keyboard, and you are likely undermining the reason you turned to a disinfectant wipe in the first place, say researchers presenting a study in Boston today. Washing hands with soap and water is still considered the best anti-bacterial method to use in a hospital setting.

As the August 8th date nears for the Summer Olympics in Beijing, the Chinese capital is reporting its first cases and deaths of hand, foot, mouth disease in children.  Generally adults can ward off the viral infection but it can turn to encephalitis in adults and in children.
