Christopher Bizilj, an 8-year-old boy, was testing a 9 mm Micro Uzi at the Westfield Sportsman’s Club in Westfield, Massachusetts, as part of the Machine Gun Shoot and Firearms Expo when he accidentally shot himself Sunday.

California becomes the sixth state to prohibit texting while behind the wheel of a vehicle. Critics say the fine is small - $20 for the first offense. A survey finds texting while driving is age-related,  the younger the driver the more they do it.

New and expanded laws regarding firearms mean that they may be closer than you think - like Sea World, Orlando and at the Atlanta Hartsfield Airport.  Disney World is refusing to allow guns in the cars of employees, despite a new guns-to-work law in Florida.

A recent insurance industry study shows teens are not heeding laws banning the use of cell phones while driving. The study concludes that parents should take a more active role in helping to curb this unsettling trend, as auto accidents are the leading cause of death for teenagers.

During a 16-year study period, there were more than 500,000 bunk bed related injuries that send more than 36,000 kids to the emergency room.  A surprise of this study was how many 18 to 20-year-olds are injured in bunk beds as well as young children.

A 14-year-old girl whose feet were severed by a ride at Six Flags Kentucky has filed a lawsuit and joined Rep. Edward Markey in calling for federal oversight through the CPSC over amusement parks.

For the first time in this study, researchers have found those exposed to pesticides and insecticides had a 1.6 times higher risk of developing Parkinson’s when compared to their relatives with no or low exposure.  Also the loss of a sense of smell is a consistent predictor of PD.
