The cost between rising obesity rates and rising medical costs is undeniable.  With one quarter of U.S. adults obese, a new study compiled by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Research Triangle Institute, finds obesity and diabetes could cost Americans $147 billion a year.

Workers are forced to shoulder higher health care costs as more employers demand bigger out-of-pocket payments from employees before their insurance policies kick in. A new study finds annual deductibles have increased an average of 29% for those with family coverage.

Even with employer sponsored health plans, Americans are having trouble paying their health care bills. While the premiums have doubled in the last decade, salaries have increased one-third.  Employers are offering less, deductibles are up. It's a formula for change, policy analysts conclude.
