CDC scientists have found a chemical called perchlorate in samples of powdered infant formula. High levels of exposure to perchlorate may disrupt the function of the thyroid gland, which is needed for normal growth and development of the central nervous system.

McGill University researchers in Canada found that breastfed babies had a six point overall higher intelligence score on IQ tests. Breastfeeding is also associated with a lower cancer risk and helps burns calories to get woman back into pre-pregnancy shape faster.
