Lead levels in the blood of youngsters has reached a 20 year low, according to a CDC report.  The 84 percent drop in lead levels in youngsters is reminiscent of levels not seen since the 1970s when lead was removed from gasoline and paint.

Following federal litigation, the EPA has agreed to slash the amount of allowable airborne lead to one-tenth the amount currently allowed.  The problem is the lead recycling industry must comply and there is a lack of lead monitors nationwide.

Two arrests have been made and 19 people are detained in China after it's alleged that they added the chemical melamine to milk at a processing facility. Toxic baby formula has now killed 2 infants and hundreds are sickened. The FDA warns parents in the U.S. not to feed formula from China to infants.

The California Attorney General has taken legal action against three makers of imitation grass, alleging the companies have violated California’s Proposition 65 environmental laws by knowingly failing to disclose that their products contain lead.

The CDC has issued a health advisory after lead has been found in some artificial turf, used in ballfields, school yards, and parks. New Jersey officials have replaced three parks of artificial turf. A California environmental group says it only found the lead in about a third of the turf it tested.
