Kristen LaBrie was arraigned yesterday in Superior Court for withholding medical care from Jeremy, her autistic 9-year-old son who had cancer and died in March.  LaBrie, of Salem, Mass. is facing up to 40 years in prison if convicted on all four charges including attempted murder, child endangerment, and permitting bodily injury to a disabled person.

Daniel Hauser and his mother who spent a week on the run to avoid forced chemotherapy to treat his cancer, have returned home to Minnesota. They are required to appear in Brown County court today for a custody hearing.

A Minnesota judge gave the parents of 13-year-old Daniel Hauser until May 19 to select an oncologist to treat his Hodgkin's lymphoma. But mom and son did not appear in court yesterday and the judge has issued an arrest warrant.

The parents of 13-year-old Daniel Hauser cannot choose an alternative treatment for his cancer.  Instead the judge says they have until May 19 to select an oncologist and treat his Hodgkin's lymphoma with chemotherapy and radiation.

Scientists have identified a gene that causes most inherited forms of neuroblastoma, a rare and deadly form of childhood cancer. They are hopeful the findings will pave the way for new treatments.

A new study finds that U.S. childhood cancers are more commonly found in the Northeast region of the country, affect more boys than girls, and more adolescents than younger children. Leukemia, brain tumors, and lymphoma affect 166 of every million U.S. children.
