Talc contains tiny fibers similar to those found in asbestos that can travel from the genital area to the ovaries causing cancer. This federal lawsuit filed by a woman diagnosed with ovarian cancer, blames talc maker, Johnson & Johnson, as well as two mining companies for failing to warn the consumer.

A risk of ovarian cancer is increased with hormone therapy, this published study finds.  The results echo the Women's Health Initiative study from 2002 that had to be haulted because researchers found an increase in many cancers among women taking hormone therapy.

A woman’s likelihood of surviving ovarian cancer may be linked to two levels of two different proteins, finds a new study. Women with high levels of both proteins had a median survival of 11 years compared with just over 2.6 years for those with low levels of both proteins.

LabCorp has been issued a warning letter by the FDA for illegally marketing a drug test to detect ovarian cancer. First introduced in June, the test promises to detect ovarian cancer in early stages, when it is still treatable.
