Summer may be over and most pools may now be closed, but drowning dangers still remain. Second to pools, more children drown in bathtubs than in any other product in and around the home.

There are an estimated 300,000 public pools in hotels, schools, camps and parks and half of them may have failed to install the new required anti-entrapment devices.  Learn what to look for in your kiddie wading pool or hotel pool this summer.

Friday is the deadline for public swimming pools and hot tubs to close if they do not meet new federal guidelines. Last year, Congress passed a law requiring new hump-shaped drain covers be installed to prevent young children from being sucked to the bottom of the pool. Drowning is the second leading cause of accidental death for children under the age of 14.
