A 37-year-old mother goes to a tanning medspa to have liposuction and has a seizure and is now brain dead. The clinic was not licensed to do medical procedures using general anesthesia, and the doctor was an occupational physician, not a plastic surgeon.

Dr. Tim Kuklo made $800,000 from medical device maker, Medtronic, for work as a consultant and during the time he shopped a professional article on a Medtronic product for publishing. The Army says the article was "falsified" by Kuklo, who is no longer an Army surgeon.

Botox and similar anti-wrinkle drugs will be required to carry stringent warning labels, prompted by reports of serious adverse events. Botulinum toxins may spread from the injection area to other areas of the body causing symptoms similar to those of botulism, including trouble of breathing and swallowing.

The death of Donda West following her plastic surgery in November 2007, resulted in attempts to change the law about outpatient surgical clinics in California. Now the surgeon, Dr. Jan Adams, has surrendered his medical license. The Harvard educated doctor is facing numerous complaints including two DUI convictions.

When it comes to using a stent or a scalpel to treat coronary heart disease, this large study finds that they are roughly similar in outcome with stents offering less risk of stroke but more likelihood of additional treatment.

A new study suggests Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery may reverse type 2 diabetes in extremely obese adolescents. Previous studies on adults with Type 2 diabetes have shown that gastric bypass weight-loss surgery can result in better disease control and disease remission.

This Beverly Hills plastic surgeon admits he turned body fat into fuel for his SUV. That revelation comes as a result of several lawsuits from patients dissatisfied with extensive lipo-suction, they say was performed by assistants. The doctor has since left the country.
