Hill jumping involves taking passenger cars and driving fast off a hil crest to make the car airborne. Innocent motorists have been injured by the sport, which largely involves teens who take videos and post them on YouTube and Facebook.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports the sexually transmitted infection, chlamydia is at a record million plus new cases annually. The data, included in the annual Surveillance Report on STDs, indicates better reporting may account for the numbers.

The National Safety Council is advocating a total ban on cell phone use while driving, saying it is dangerous and leads to fatalities. A study by the Harvard Center for Risk Analysis estimates cell phone use while driving accounts for 6 percent or 636,000 of all automobile crashes, 330,000 injuries and 2,600 deaths in the U.S. every year.

They pledge to wait until marriage to have sex, but more often than not, teens who made that pledge were as likely to have intercourse as other U.S. adolescents, according to a new study.

This report from the National Institute on Drug Abuse, indicates that half of high school seniors will have tried a prescription drug for recreational use before they graduate high school. While marijuana and alcohol use has declined, the painkillers Vicodin and OxyContin use has increased among primarily white, middle-class teens.

It has immediate application for parents, but also corporations that want to cut down on the thousands of highway deaths each year due to inattention.

Researchers find that as many as 400,000 adolescents are playing with medications such as Vicodin and Oxycontin to get high. The best way to  treat these teens?  With an extended treatment  of detoxification medication, this study finds.

California becomes the sixth state to prohibit texting while behind the wheel of a vehicle. Critics say the fine is small - $20 for the first offense. A survey finds texting while driving is age-related,  the younger the driver the more they do it.

Four high school students from Council Rock High School in Newton, Pennsylvania have been hospitalized for possible overdoses after ingesting an herbal supplement known as “SNURF.” It is not entirely clear what ingredients are in Snurf products, but reported symptoms point to dextromethorphan, a cough suppressant widely abused among teens.

43 percent of teens responding to an annual survey on drug attitudes, say they can get their hands on prescription drugs within an hour, and it's easier than getting beer. The report blames "passive parents" who don't know where their children are, and keep prescription drugs available at home assuming they've been approved so they're safe.

Teens who self-medicate with marijuana are more likely to worsen symptoms of depression, a White House report says. Girls are more likely than boys to feel depression. In all about 2 million teens are affected. Despite their experience with pot, parents should not ignore the signs, Dr. Drew Pinsky, addiction expert says.
